Many thanks go out to the Hunter Thomas Band, Kyle Dillingham and Horseshoe Bend, and the Red Dirt Rangers for putting on such an amazing show!

Oklahoma City Community College rocked the campus Friday night with a free outdoor concert under a starless summer sky. Concert goers brought their camping chairs and coolers filled with ice-cold beverages and settled in for a night of music and fun. A heavy police presence was in evidence, which helped to put the crowd of roughly three hundred people at ease so they could enjoy the show.

At five o’clock, the Hunter Thomas Band took the stage with a country-rock sound that brought the audience to their feet and swaying to the beat. Raised on Oklahoma red dirt, the Hunter Thomas Band put on a fantastic show.

Clint Poe is the lead singer and plays the guitar. Tanner Secret plays the bass guitar and sings vocals, with brother Brandon Secret on the drums.

Check out the Hunter Thomas Band on Facebook and be on the lookout for a new record coming in July from these talented performers.

Next up on stage was Kyle Dillingham and Horseshoe Road. Kyle and the boys have an authentic rockabilly sound that will get your toes to tapping Grand’ Ol Opry style. They played everything from gospel music to Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock.”

Kyle Dillingham sings, plays the guitar, and plays a mean fiddle. Brent Saulsbury sings vocals and plays a double bass guitar, and Peter Markes sings vocals and plays the guitar and the fiddle.

Last to take the stage was the Red Dirt Rangers, Jimmy Buffet style. Playing everything from Hank Williams Sr. To Patsy Cline’s “Why Should I Keep Loving You,” with some gospel music thrown in for good measure, they were a big hit.

Brad Piccolo plays the guitar and sings vocals. John Cooper plays percussion and the mandolin and sings vocals. Ben Hann sings vocals and plays the lead guitar. Randy Crouch plays the fiddle, with Don Morris on the bass guitar and Rick Gomez on drums.

The Red Dirt Rangers invited Kyle Dillingham to join them on stage with his magical fiddle halfway through their show, and he stole the whole show. Kyle poured his hard-driving energy and heart and soul into his music and set the stage on fire. Dillingham had the distinction of playing the Grand Ol Opry when he was only seventeen.

Lemuel Bardeguez, Director of Cultural Programs at OCCC (Oklahoma City Community College), was hanging out with the Red Dirt Rangers and Kyle Dillingham when we met him backstage at the end of the show. “We hope this is the first of many free concerts this summer,” said Bardeguez. We certainly hope so, too, Director Bardeguez, because we had a blast!
