Q: Inspiration for coming to OKC Arts Festival.

A: “…my first year doing it was last year and it was just a festival that everyone recommended doing, you know, so give it a shot. And last year was one of my best shows, trying for the second time, always having a good time. People are really receptive.”

A: “I love all my pieces but one of my favorites I would say is Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artists. Details interface for map of Mexico City where she’s from. Flowers are from her exhibit at the Dali Museum. And then in the circles are elements of the frame she used and one of her pieces.”

Q: Inspiration for joining OKC Arts Festival.

A: “Well, I’ve always gone to the festival, the arts, I just enjoy it since I was in college. And I’ve been painting professionally for about five years. And so I applied, and I made it in so I’m selling this year.”

Q: Inspiration for doing art.

A: “I have three little boys. And well, I’d say little, my oldest is 13. But I like to tell stories through my art. And a lot of it is the way I feel like they would see the world and so they’re a great part of my inspiration. And then also color, I love color. And so basically, that’s my inspiration.”

Q: Message to younger aspiring artists.

A: “I say just be yourself and don’t look at other things for inspiration, like social media and stuff, but to gather inspiration within your own mind, because that’s good enough. You don’t have to have somebody else’s look. That each artist is a product of their own imagination. So to definitely use their imagination for things”
